What drew you to working at The Space?
Growing up in Karratha I always wished there was a yoga studio to go to, especially when I started to really get into yoga. When I found out there was a studio finally in town I got super excited about the thought of working there, especially as I’d just finished my teacher training which I began without knowing where or when I’d work afterwards.
What has been the greatest lesson you have learnt as a teacher?
If I keep practicing and doing my own yoga every day, I will be able to explain what’s going on in a posture and understand the student’s experience more genuinely. If I keep practicing, then I actually have something to teach. Otherwise it’s superficial and inauthentic and not me.
What has been the greatest gift you’ve received as a teacher?
Developing my own regular practice and furthering my own spiritual realisation. It’s true that you learn by teaching. Before I taught I did yoga on and off, and now it’s a sustained and evolving practice that enhances my life.
If you could teach the world one thing, what would it be?
Care about others and care about yourself.
Describe yourself in one sentence.
INFP (For those who don’t know that is: Intuitive, Introverted, Feeling, and Perception on the Myers Briggs personality test)
